CMLD Board Position Opening – An Opportunity to Help Determine the Future of Our Lakes
The Callahan and Mud Lake District has an exciting upcoming opening on its Board of Directors. Our current Treasurer, Ray Schnepp, is at the end of his term and has decided not to run for re‑election. We want to thank him for his outstanding service—Ray was instrumental on both the original appointed board and the first elected board, and his work has made a lasting impact on the Lake District. We’re glad to share that he plans to stay involved in District activities moving forward.
With Ray’s term ending, one of the three elected board seats will be open. We are looking for people interested in being on the ballot, which will be voted on as part of the August 8th Annual Meeting. After the annual meeting, the full five‑member board will discuss and determine the best alignment for the elected roles (Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer). The term for newly elected Board members is three (3) years which allows time for board members to come up to speed and develop a good understanding of the District’s business. The Board typically meets once per month and members can attend virtually if needed.
Even if you have not been actively involved thus far or have never served on a board, your contribution is welcome and getting up to speed will not be difficult. There are many important issues the Board will be working through in the next few years that will affect the future of our lakes for decades to come. If you care about the future of our lakes and are interested in serving, this is a meaningful opportunity for you to get involved and to help improve the long-term health of our lakes.
