The intent of this letter is to notify you that the Callahan-Mud Lake Protective Association (CMLPA) has hired Northern Aquatic Services, an herbicide application company, to treat Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM), a non-native, invasive aquatic plant species that is found in both Callahan and Mud Lakes. An herbicide application of 4.2 acres will be completed on Callahan Lake (between the two lakes) in 2025 in the WDNR approves a permit request. The Trade name herbicide to be used to treat EWM is “ProcellaCOR EC”. This herbicide has been labeled for aquatic use by the Environmental Protection Agency. Any water usage restrictions for the treated area will be posted on yellow signs in the treated areas. Herbicide application is expected to take only an hour or two and will be completed sometime between June 30 and July 15, 2025.
In addition, the CMLPA will be contracting with Aquatic Plant Management, LLC to complete scuba diver or diver-assisted suction harvest (DASH) near the dam on Callahan Lake sometime between late June and early August.
You may view a copy of the application at the following website:

Aquatic plant survey work will also be completed in both lakes in 2025 to further map the distribution and density of EWM in both lakes. These surveys will support future management of EWM.
