Another meeting was held on December 20, 2024 with the Division of Land, Forest and Water Resource Committee of Sawyer County. Ongoing discussions are taking place as it relates to our proposal to become a Lake District. There have been discussions about different aspects of our proposal. Their committee has had some questions for us that we have been able to answer as they continue their review of our proposal/petition. They have had their Legal representative involved in the past 2 meetings.
There has been 2 of their District committee members who have resigned their positions for the county. They have filled one of those positions before this December 20th meeting was held. Since this newest member had just started the week of this meeting, they have chosen to allow him time to review all of our material and continue their discussion on our proposal at the January 8, 2025 meeting.
This division will compile a report of their recommendations and submit it to the Sawyer County Board of Supervisors for their review. This letter of recommendation they must file, is due to the Sawyer County Board of Supervisors by January 11, 2025 (per statutory requirements of 90 days after petition was filed with Sawyer County). The Sawyer County Board of Supervisors will review our material and the letter of recommendation sent to them and make the final decision on whether to accept our petition.
There have been multiple articles in the Sawyer County Record on the results and discussions that were held at these meetings. Please take a look on The Sawyer County website for those articles.
All Sawyer County committee meetings agenda’s and minutes can be found on the Sawyer County website. This is where all meetings will be announced. If you are not able to be there in person, all meetings can be called into via Zoom or on the phone. Each meeting has a “public speaking” part where each person who requests to speak has a 3-minute time limit.
We will post all updated information for you on the website.
